Apology from Japan/Learning History-IV

Ichiro Fujisaki, Japanese Ambassador to the U.S., offered a direct apology to a group of the Second World War veterans taken prisoner by Japanese imperial army in the Philippines. “We extend a heartfelt apology for our country having caused tremendous damage and suffering to many people (Japan Times).” A meeting of the American Defenders of Bataan and Corregidor hold at San Antonio, Texas on 30 May 2009. Fujisaki met a survivor of the 1942 Bataan Death March. It is easy for the Japanese to offer apology to the Americans, but not people in the Asian region including the Chinese and Koreans.
