Laodicean Politics in Japan-I

When former Koizumi Junichiro shouted during the 2005 lower house election, “I will destroy LDP if it does not change.” On 30 August 2009, the Japanese voters finally got rid of the lame-duck head of the LDP, Aso Taro, who has been viewed by many as the most arrogant, idiotic, and rich-boy prime minister in modern Japanese history.  Ironically, Aso Taro really destroyed the LDP, a wish of Koizumi. Japan’s newly victorious Democratic Party headed by Hatoyama Yukio, who is the first prime minister who has a Ph.D. (from Stanford) and was educated in the West, will face tremendous tasks inside and outside of Japan . It will be unlikely Hatoyama will be able to solve all problems during his tenure office. As Murakami Ryu indicates his article in New York Time (8 September 2009), the Japanese cannot get all results during the four years of the Democratic Party as in the power. The fact of the matter is that the Japanese citizens are expecting a lot (just as Barack Obama in the USA). Can the Democratic Party delivery all expectations?
